The DUOMAX is a double herringbone style horse trailer without the compromises. It offers endless features that benefit both the travelling horses and the driver

Key Features:

Large Built-In Tack Room: With facilities to store tack, equipment and your luggage, you can save space in the towing vehicle and safely lock away your possessions whilst travelling and competing. With vanity mirror and storage on the interior of the tack room door, you can get ready in ease, with even enough room in the built-in room to dress out of the site and the unpredictable British weather! With an opening window, you could even sleep in it!

Rear Combination Ramp/Door: With a simple, fast and functional system you can transform the rear opening from a ramp to a barn door, and vice-versa. Every horse is different, and the ability to adapt to the opening they prefer can help take the stress out of loading.

Pullman 2 Suspension: Manufactured using our signature car-like, coil and gas struct Pullman 2 Suspension system, the Duomax offers industry-leading lowered floor height and exceptional handling qualities. This mechanism means imperfections in your travelling routes are absorbed effectively, significantly reducing trailer movement and noise, keeping your horses relaxed and ready for optimal performance. Our Pullman 2 Suspension uses a single piece chassis meaning the trailers centre of gravity is closer to the ground, resulting in better balance, no incline, no steps and a ground clearance of only 30cm, all features that facilitate the loading of your horses.

Ventilation: You shouldn’t have to sacrifice a calming environment to ensure your horse doesn’t arrive flustered and sweating after travelling. The Cheval Liberté Duomax has a light and airy interior teamed with 3 sliding windows and an Airtech rear roller, that all encourage effectively airflow and ventilation without allowing excessive external noise into the trailer. The encouragement of natural light within the trailer prevents horses from feeling claustrophobic without absorbing heat into the trailer as tinted windows may do.

Front Unloading Ramp: Teamed with a large opening flap with sliding window, the ability to walk your horses out of the Duomax’s wide front ramp not only makes unloading them easier but encourages effective loading training as you can enter and exit the trailer in one swift moment, thus establishing confidence in your horses and limiting the feeling of being trapped.

Appearance: The aerodynamic one-piece front and nose appearance of the Duomax is modern, sleek and significantly contributes to minimising the fuel consumption of the towing vehicle. Available in black, light grey, red, white or anthracite, the trailer can be matched in colour and style to your vehicle if desired. It perfectly collaborates comfort, functionality and style to offer rider and horse the ultimate towing experience.

High-Quality Materials: Manufactured using high-quality materials renowned for their technical qualities, the Duomax has anodised aluminium box-section side walls and ramps with an aluminium floor and 8mm rubber matting. Cheval Liberté has been manufacturing aluminium sided trailers for over 10 years, and with extensive research and development over many years we have developed a patent based on a unique method of assembly. This patent allows us today to design horse trailers, such as the Duomax that are stronger, lighter and with importable handling.

Security: Safety elements such as brakes, suspension, wheels and accessories are approved and are subject to constant checks. Our horse trailers have received European homologation and benefit from a 2-year and 5-year parts and labour guarantee for aluminium boards and walls.

A three-step guide to buying a horse trailer

buying a horse trailer

What to consider buying a horse trailer

The security and comfort of your horse are paramount for successful transporting. This Guide To Buying a Horse Trailer details the main points to consider.

1. The right trailer for your horse

Be sure to measure them from tip to tail and shoulder to shoulder to make sure any trailer you’re looking at is a good fit. Remember, in order to balance your horse needs to be able to spread its legs and use its neck and head. If the stall space is too short, the horse must balance itself with their right front and left hind legs when accelerating and decelerating, causing soreness, fatigue and even lameness over a prolonged time. Enough headroom is vital, pick a trailer that allows for your horses’ full height over the largest span, some manufacturers only consider the peak of a curved roof as it’s maximum height. Here at Cheval, we take this into consideration, our squared trailers front means that no matter were your horse stands they’ll have optimal headspace. The more space you can allow above your horse the less closed in they’ll feel, and it allows for better ventilation.

2. The right trailer for you

Not only does a trailer have to be comfortable for your horse or horses, but can be towed safely behind your vehicle, hold all your horse gear and work with your lifestyle. With a wide range of trailer sizes from single horse trailers to four horse diagonal loading trailers, know your needs and towing capabilities. Transporting a horse can be challenging depending on the nature of their character, trailers have features that can maximise comfort and build a good relationship between your horse and the trailer, making it easy to load. Key features to look for include-

• Access: wide entries, lows steps, and steady ramps.

• Padding: points of contact between horse and trailer should be cushioned.

• Windows & Hatches: quality vision to encourage calmness and willingness to enter.

• Ease of operation: quick, smooth and quiet latches to keep the horse calm.

• Suspension: Optimal shock absorption for gentle travelling.

3. Loading and Unloading

As many of us know, loading and unloading our horse/s can be difficult, but there are features that can make a big difference. Step up trailers are industry standard, they can work well for loading if the height of the step is comfortable for the horse. However, it’s important that the trailer has a front ramp, if not the horse will have to back out, making it susceptible to slipping or scrambling that will increase the chance of injury.

Loading ramps with low, gradual slopes, made with a non-slip, sturdy surface and that is assisted by springs and so easy to lift offer superior loading for you and your horse. Match this loading ramp with an alike front ramp and the horse can be loaded and unloaded in many configurations and be walked through the trailer effortlessly. Our Touring Country double horse trailer is fitted with our combination door, front ramp, and tack room – meaning you can alter it to work for both horses being transported and still have the space for all your gear.
